Further Test Animations

behind the scenes
Behind the scenes of shooting the test animations.

During the project, I unfortunately got stuck at home for a bit, having to isolate. It was difficult being away from my team for a little bit, although I actually managed to make the most of this opportunity and I produced some test animations to present for the online critique. At home, I luckily had access to a whole range of collage materials such as different coloured papers, fake flowers, love hearts etc. I thought that I could do some cool stop motion videos with these.

So, I created my own little set-up in the lounge, making my own make-shift tripod for my phone to stand on and also using photography lights to get good lighting. Although this set-up worked well for the test animations, I knew that we would need to use a professional camera and lighting when filming our final animation, so it could look as good as possible.

Above are some of the test animations that I produced; they took around a day to film. Some are shorter and simpler than others. I had a lot of fun experimenting with these. I was inspired by our storyboards and animatic when choosing what to include in each frame. Although I was really happy with the handmade feel of the animations, I felt that the true story gets lost when watching them and I thought that maybe the viewer would get confused on what is going on and how it links to Hardy. I felt that we would need to consider how to get the story across, maybe by thinking about a voice over to go in the background.
